Large families may be unpopular for all sorts of reasons today, but a Norwe= gian=20 study suggests they are good for the parents' health. Researchers used nati= onal=20 registers to get data on all Norwegian men and women born between 1935 and = 1958, and followed up a large number of them between 1980 and 2003, when they we= re aged 45 to 68 years. They took account of educational qualifications and marital= status as well as number of children when looking at death rates. They found that life tended to be shortest for childless women -- who had a= 50 per cent higher risk of dying by late middle age than those with two children -= - and for childless men (35 per cent higher risk). The next highest risk was for= those with only one child. . . Overall, more children meant a longer life. The authors say that the simila= rity=20 of results for women and men suggests that there are social as well as biol= ogical factors at work. And they conclude: "The lack of any high-parity disadvanta= ge suggests that in the 'family friendly' Norwegian environment, the health benefits of= having several children may outweigh the costs." A UK study indicated that: Women who give birth may help themselves live longer by stealing some of th= eir unborn child's cells, it was claimed today. Researchers have found male stem cells in women more than 50 years after th= ey have given birth to boys. They suggest this could benefit the mother, replacing ageing cells and help= ing to explain why women generally live longer than men. Stem cells are 'master' cells that grow into different kinds of tissue, esp= ecially during foetal development. It is well known that cells from the blood of the foetus can pass to the mo= ther=20 during pregnancy. The cells eventually become absorbed into the mother's bo= ne marrow, a process known as fetomaternal microchimerism. . . Professor Fisk said, "Intriguingly, the fact that mothers seem to obtain mo= re stem cells in adult life, replacing the ones they were born with, might explain = why women live longer than men and why pregnancy may prevent or protect against disea= ses such as multiple sclerosis or breast cancer." There has been a sharp increase over the last two generati= ons in the proportion of children who do not live with their own two married paren= ts, spurred first largely by increases in divorce, and more recently by large jumps in = unmarried or cohabiting childbearing. Marriage has changed a great deal over the past two generations, including = increased incidence and social acceptance of divorce, cohabitation, premarital sex, a= nd unwed childbearing. Other important changes include dramatic increases in the pro= portion of working wives, reduced tolerance for domestic violence, and a change in = gender roles. For the last 10 years my ex-wife and I have been involved in family law lit= igation which I have written about previously for the Fatherhood Foundation weekly = newsletter. The court battles resulted from bitterness and unforgiveness on both our pa= rts.=20 Last year I decided to let go of my bitterness and unforgiveness because Go= d challenged me to after healing my back, one torn disc and two desiccated discs. I wrot= e to=20 my ex forgiving her and asking for her forgiveness. This was like throwing= petrol on a smouldering fire. The result of trying to re-establish contact with ou= r daughter, Aimee, after not seeing her for 8 months (now 18 months) is an application,= by my ex-wife that I only spend time with Aimee when she wants to see me and that= the=20 mother will do all things necessary to ensure this happens. Interesting whe= n she won't do that now! Every time we went to court I would leave with the moth= er agreeing to me spending more time with Aimee, WIN. However, the reality was that I = spent less time with her because that was her mother's real desire, LOSE. My biggest concern now is that at nearly 11 years of age Aimee is talking a= bout=20 running away from home and committing suicide, this would be the greatest l= oss of all. Also, what her mother is asking the court to do in order to prove her = case=20 is more system abuse of Aimee by having her assessed by a child psychiatris= t. This is on top of all the other counsellors that she has dragged Aimee to in an = attempt to prove her case. Warwick Marsh, from the Fatherhood Foundation, wrote me a note of encourage= ment=20 earlier this year stating 'A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.' I asked= myself what that means to me as a Christian man and father. Firstly, as a Christian man, I must seek God and His will in this situation= . I must align myself with the Father heart of God. Secondly Warwick also wrote 'perfect love casts out all fear'. Therefore as= a father I must have perfect love for my daughter. What is perfect love? Paul wrote = in 1=20 Corinthians 13 what love was and was not 'Love is not self seeking (selfish= )'. So I am left with two choices 1) Apply to have Aimee live with me, traumati= c for her and not what she wants. 2) Walk away to reduce the stress that Aimee i= s being put under by her mother and pray that in time God restores what has been st= olen. I have reached the decision to walk away. Then the Independent Children's = Lawyer is appointed and says that she may not support my decision. Another person = with=20 a different point of view. All our children leave home at some point in their life, to survive this he= artbreak I must accept that now Aimee, heavily influenced by her mother, is leaving = home. But if I am to have her return later, which I know the Lord will restore o= ur relationship, I believe I must let her go. At the start of this journey a friend of mine told me to focus on walking A= imee=20 down the aisle on her wedding day. Father God, Into your perfect hands I place Aimee until you restore our relationship an= d I walk her down that aisle. Bless her, protect her, let her know how much I love h= er and it is because of my love for her that I have made this decision. Father, You know what an aching heart is like from watching as your son Jesus gave = His life for all of us. I pray, please heal the aching hearts of all the fathers in= this broken world and restore their rightful place in their children's lives. Amen. Scientists have finally discovered w= hat we fathers have suspected for a long time. Women who have had children = will live longer than those who don't. www.mercatornet.org Family Edge we= ekly email tells the story.

 

 

<= span>Large families may be unpopular for all sorts of reasons today, but a = Norwegian study suggests they are good for the parents' health. Researchers= used national registers to get data on all Norwegian men and women born be= tween 1935 and 1958, and followed up a large number of them between 1980 an= d 2003, when they were aged 45 to 68 years. They took account of educationa= l qualifications and marital status as well as number of children when look= ing at death rates.

<= span>They found that life tended to be shortest for childless women -- who = had a 50 per cent higher risk of dying by late middle age than those with t= wo children -- and for childless men (35 per cent higher risk). The next hi= ghest risk was for those with only one child. . .

<= span>Overall, more children meant a longer life. The authors say that the s= imilarity of results for women and men suggests that there are social as we= ll as biological factors at work. And they conclude: "The lack of any high-= parity disadvantage suggests that in the 'family friendly' Norwegian enviro= nment, the health benefits of having several children may outweigh the cost= s." (Summary) ~ American Journal= of Epidemiology, 2008, No.167(3); published online November 13, 2007.<= /span>

 

A UK study indicated that:

<= span>Women who give birth may help themselves live longer by stealing some = of their unborn child's cells, it was claimed today.

 

<= span>Researchers have found male stem cells in women more than 50 years aft= er they have given birth to boys.

 

<= span>They suggest this could benefit the mother, replacing ageing cells and= helping to explain why women generally live longer than men.

 

<= span>Stem cells are 'master' cells that grow into different kinds of tissue= , especially during foetal development.

 

<= span>It is well known that cells from the blood of the foetus can pass to t= he mother during pregnancy. The cells eventually become absorbed into the m= other's bone marrow, a process known as fetomaternal microchimerism. . .

 

<= span>Professor Fisk said, "Intriguingly, the fact that mothers seem to obta= in more stem cells in adult life, replacing the ones they were born with, m= ight explain why women live longer than men and why pregnancy may prevent o= r protect against diseases such as multiple sclerosis or breast cancer."

 
Professor Fisk sheds new light on the profound mystery of the two beco= ming one.
 

This is all good information for our= children and encouraging for us as fathers because we also get to live a b= it longer as well.

The Fatherhood Foundation believes m= arriage is important for children, for adults and for society. There has be= en a sharp increase over the last two generations in the proportion of chil= dren who do not live with their own two married parents, spurred first larg= ely by increases in divorce, and more recently by large jumps in unmarried = or cohabiting childbearing.

 

Marriage has changed a great deal ov= er the past two generations, including increased incidence and social accep= tance of divorce, cohabitation, premarital sex, and unwed childbearing. When is= Winning Losing

 

Have you ever wondered when winning is really losing?

 

For the last 10 years my ex-wife and I have been involved in famil= y law litigation which I have written about previously for the Fatherhood F= oundation weekly newsletter.  3D"Div=

 

The court battles resulted from bitterness and unforgiveness on bo= th our parts.  Last year I de= cided to let go of my bitterness and unforgiveness because God challenged m= e to after healing my back, one torn disc and two desiccated discs.  I wrote to my ex forgiving her and = asking for her forgiveness.  = This was like throwing petrol on a smouldering fire.  The result of trying to re-establish contact with = our daughter, Aimee, after not seeing her for 8 months (now 18 months) is a= n application, by my ex-wife that I only spend time with Aimee when she wants to see me and that the mot= her will do all things necessary to ensure this happens.  Interesting when she won't do that now!  Every time we went to court I woul= d leave with the mother agreeing to me spending more time with Aimee, WIN. =  However, the reality was tha= t I spent less time with her because that was her mother's real desire, LOS= E.

 

My biggest concern now is that at nearly 11 years of age Aimee is = talking about running away from home and committing suicide, this would be = the greatest loss of all.  Al= so, what her mother is asking the court to do in order to prove her case is= more system abuse of Aimee by having her assessed by a child psychiatrist.=   This is on top of all the o= ther counsellors that she has dragged Aimee to in an attempt to prove her c= ase.

 

Warwick Marsh, from the Fatherhood Foundation, wrote me a note of = encouragement earlier this year stating 'A man's gotta do what a man's gott= a do.'  I asked myself what t= hat means to me as a Christian man and father. 

 

Firstly, as a Christian man, I must seek God and His will in this = situation. I must align myself with the Father heart of God.<= /p>

 

Secondly Warwick also wrote 'perfect love casts out all fear'. The= refore as a father I must have perfect love for my daughter.  What is perfect love?  Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13 what love was and= was not 'Love is not self seeking (selfish)'.

 

So I am left with two choices 1) Apply to have Aimee live with me,= traumatic for her and not what she wants.  2) Walk away to reduce the stress that Aimee is being put un= der by her mother and pray that in time God restores what has been stolen.<= /font>

 

I have reached the decision to walk away.  Then the Independent Children's Lawyer is appointed = and says that she may not support my decision.  Another person with a different point of view.

 

All our children leave home at some point in their life, to surviv= e this heartbreak I must accept that now Aimee, heavily influenced by her m= other, is leaving home.  But = if I am to have her return later, which I know the Lord will restore our re= lationship, I believe I must let her go.

 

At the start of this journey a friend of mine told me to focus on = walking Aimee down the aisle on her wedding day.  

 

Father God,3D"Man<= /span>

Into your perfect hands I place Aimee until you restore our relati= onship and I walk her down that aisle.&nb= sp; Bless her, protect her, let her know how much I love her and it = is because of my love for her that I have made this decision.

You know what an aching heart is like from watching as your son Je= sus gave His life for all of us.  I pray, please heal the aching hearts of all the fathers in this broke= n world and restore their rightful place in their children's lives.

= The Lost Boys<= /span>

 

A new observational documentary seri= es for TV called The Lost Boys is being produced.  It focuses on 5 fat= hers and their sons who are currently experiencing some type of difficulty = or strain in their relationship due to long working hours, divorce, absence= etc.   We would be taking the fathers and sons away on a cattle drove= in Australia for 28 days with the idea that with help and time away togeth= er they will hopefully mend problems in their communications and create a n= ew bond between them.

This is a very professional project with = backing from relationship councillors and droving experts who regularly hos= t groups of public to take part in a similar experience. There is definitel= y no voting, panel of judges or elimination in the format.  It really = is about fathers and sons attempting to re-build their relationship with ne= wly acquired skills through a combined experience.

I am looking= for fathers and sons who may be interested in participating.
Sons wou= ld have to be minimum age 15 through to 24.

I truly believe= it's a really worthy project, but our biggest problem right now is time. &= nbsp;We've been working on it for a couple of weeks and still are short of = four or five case studies which will effect if we can get the show commissi= oned and since it's such a worthy cause I'd really hate to have it slip. &n= bsp;I was hoping I may be able to speak with you in case you may know of an= y fathers/sons who may be interested in taking part.

The National Day of Thanksgiving is a unique opportunity fo= r Australians to celebrate and give thanks for our God given = ;heritage as a nation and to demonstrate the God given values of honou= r, respect, thankfulness and gratitude towards our fellow man that have mad= e us the great nation we are.
 
It is a day for us to pause as a nation and say thank you t= o God and to each other for those many things we often take for grante= d but which really make our lives worth living.  Let us use this day t= o be a blessing to those who have been a blessing to us during the pas= t year.

As long as we don't have clear boundaries between our self and= others, we cannot know where we end and someone else starts - we cannot ge= t clear on what is our stuff and what is theirs. As long as we don't have c= lear boundaries within ourselves, we are set up to be the victim of our own= thoughts, feelings, and behaviour.
